When the Heat Is On - Spiritual Growth Encouragement Series

Bible Verses: Proverbs 14:17
“A quick-tempered person does foolish things, and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.”

Proverbs 14:29
“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.”

Proverbs 15:1
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Proverbs 15:18
“A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.”

Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Reflect and Respond: The fruit of the spirit that overcomes anger is a fruit cultivated by knowing God and His Word. How will you cultivate that fruit today?

Prayer: Father, You are the gardener of the fruit You have planted in my soul. Please open my ears and my heart to Your teaching. Please grow Your fruit in me and help me live according to Your word, even when I am tempted to lash out in anger. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Lord Jesus, slow me down for Your sake. Let me not be too quick-tempered lest I fall into folly and disgrace. But help me to develop the Christ-like attribute of being slow to speak and slow to anger
