The Seriousness of Sin - Spiritual Growth Encouragement Series

Bible Verse: Matthew 5:21-22

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”

Reflect and Respond:

Today: Ask God to take your anger and give you a new way of seeing things.

Father, today I bring my anger to you. Please transform my heart to trust You and do what is right without anger or bitterness, but with faith in Your good will. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

My Lord, thank You for guiding me in understanding the seriousness of anger. Lord, cool my hasty temper and draw me to Your side so that I may learn of You. Inspire me with Your wisdom, that in all things, I may use Your words to good effect and save my soul from hell.

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

As children of God we all do get angry or feel a feeling of anger. It is then we should in that moment stop turn and pray prior to any response to be given. This way we can take the anger and give it to God. Then come back with a reply as Jesus would, in kindness, being humble and with Love.

Father I Thank You for Your continuing to work on us daily to remind us that yes we are sinners but in those times we should turn to You for forgiveness and to seek the true answer of why we allowed the anger to overcome us. I Thank You Lord for always providing the right way to reply just as You would, in Jesus name Amen
