Target Rich Environment - Spiritual Growth Encouragement Series

Bible Verse: Luke 6:35-36
“'Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.'”

Reflect and Respond: Who do you need to think of with God's compassion rather than anger? How can you do good to them?

Prayer: Father, You love even my enemies. Please help me to do the same. Let me see them with Your eyes. Fill me with Your love so that I might share Your compassion with them and honor Your name. Amen.

Lord Jesus, I thank You for instructing me in the way I should behave toward my enemies. Just as You showed compassion and extended Your forgiveness to those who despised You, so let me be. Give me a heart like Yours that I may not sin against my foes.

I need to allow the Spirit to change my self talk about and “to” others, on the road and in public. Instead, I want to give them courtesy and show kindness, in a smile, gesture or word. I need a heart change!

This is so hard; hate of the sin but love the sinner. Disgust for other people's lostness and ignorance results in our unloving words and thoughts. Lord help us to respond with compassion and to reflect the love of Jesus to others rather than being a judge.
