Nurturing the New Nature - Spiritual Growth Encouragement Series - Arnie Cole

https://youtu.be/Z-kwtY6f9DM Bible Verse: Ephesians 4: 20-22 That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. Reflect and Respond: Being a Christ Follower isn't just a change of mind. It's a change of nature - a change of citizenship! Today's passage from Ephesians 4: 20-22 encourages you to "throw off" your old sinful nature and former way of life. The best way to embrace your new nature and experience a changed life is to be reminded daily - even multiple times a day - of God's truth. Here's another encouraging passage about nurturing the new nature: Colossians 3: 12-17 Prayer: Father, let your Word sink deep into my heart and help me to daily clothe myself in your truth, your love, and your grace. Thank you for giving me a new nature! Amen. If you enjoyed this video, share it with you family and friends: https://bttb.org/spiritual-lift-with-arnie-cole
Since we become Christ follower, I have a story to share, it is the most meaningful ever have happen to me everr since.
I've read the Bible from beginning to end. I'm currently reading it for the second time. I don't always understand what I am reading but I know the words are resonating in my heart. I feel like God wants quality time in the Bible and not how fast I can get through it. It took me 3 years the first time I read it.
I am not very good about reading the Bible first thing in the morning but if I don’t read it at all,I am very lost and feel out of control. I have learned to be in the word multiple times a day, much like it is important to eat small meals to keep yourself full of energy.
I got the "I didn't know you were a Christian" into a different form: "You don't strike me as a believer". Which made me very sad and I realized I need to work harder, I need to put off my old self. The message from today is great. Thank you!
I have so much to die for....... my whole exsistance has been sinful .....oh..... wreched man that I am ......to let go and surrender my old nature daily is the challenge. As paul spoke of....die to self, listening to the Holy Spirit give me direction, following through this life running the race...knowing someday this life will be over and life with Jesus will be eternally complete. Today I will seek His will and spread His Gospel where He leads me. Amen!!!!
Sometimes we close off ourselves to God's voice, I had been heading in the wrong direction the last couple of years and he used one of your emails to reach me at the perfect moment. Thanks for sharing these verses with me.
This verse is a great reminder that i need to die to self.
I love the comparison between feeding your body and feeding your spirit. It really shows the importance of reading the Bible on a daily basis.
I think there's that struggle today with being relevant and able to connect with the world, but not fall into the value system of the world...the sin struggle of the world. It's like you said, it's not a compliment when someone can't tell if you're a Christian. There was a period of my life where I looked like anything but a Christian. Thankfully, I threw off the old ways and embraced this life God has given me.
I know some people told me that, they did not I was a Christian. I told them it is the greatest blessing in part of this life, a few have accepted the Christian life, the rest refuse the Christian life.
My wife and kids are the biggest test for "I didn't know you were a Christian". I can fake it sometimes with others, but my family sees the real me. The more I'm in the Bible, the more I feel like the Holy Spirit is causing me to pause between what my children do and how I react. I want to be like Jesus more with them.
I don't think I've ever gone "2 or 3 days without eating" because that's almost unthinkable! XD What a concept - that we've been spiritually starving ourselves in our lives!
I had one of those "I didn't know you were a Christian" moments and it was VERY embarrassing, so I identify with what you are saying Arnie. Living out the new nature is a great way to witness to those around us. Thank you for giving us a great step towards that with the concept of 4 or more days a week. Something simple yet powerful to strive for.
I have the issue you mention about brining up my belief in Jesus to people I meet. I pray for more opportunity, but I also know that I need to be more active and do my part too!
This makes me think of yet another great verse: John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. Our new selves now abide in Jesus. And our 'new nature' should strive to follow Colossians 3:12-17. Thank you, Lord!
This is great news! Jesus transforms our lives!
The only way our lives can be changed is to abide daily with our Lord Jesus, we abide with Him in His word. I'm so thankful I have been loved and redeemed by the Lord! How could I not obey Him? I know so many people that are Christians or they say they love Jesus, but can't be bothered to give anything back to Him. This is so sad..
