Can All Sin Be Forgiven? - Spiritual Growth Encouragement Series - Arnie Cole

Bible Verse: Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Mark 3:28-29

“I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences.”

Reflect and Respond:

How does knowing that God is able and willing to forgive all your sins affect how you forgive others?

Prayer:

Father, thank you for your unfathomable grace and forgiveness. Please help me to live in the freedom of it, and offer it up to others as well. I pray this in the merciful name of Jesus. Amen.

Hey Carolyn. Here are one respected theologian's comments on blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

"The context makes it clear that Jesus had a specific offense in mind when He warned His listeners about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit...Those who had seen the overwhelming evidence of the Spirit's power in Jesus' ministry, et remained utterly unwilling to accept Jesus as the Son of God--choosing instead to attribute the Spirit's empowering work to Satan- were guilty of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Though they had witnessed Him heal all kinds of diseases, cast out scores of demons, and proclaim a gospel of divine forgiveness, Jesus' enemies nonetheless accused Him of being a demon-possessed deceiver...They had permanently hardened their hearts against their own Messiah. Consequently, because their rejection was final in the face of sufficient evidence, there was no possibility of forgiveness."

That's the unforgivable sin: rejecting the Messiah. That's blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. So if you have repented of your sin and turned to Christ as Savior, you do not need to worry or doubt.

The Bible talks about the perseverance of the saints. Some suggest this means a Christian can lose their salvation. I reject this notion. Rather, I believe those who are called and saved will persevere. They will sin. They will struggle. But they also rest in God's grace surely to never reject the Messiah.

I hope this helps.

Hello this video is awesome 😎 what blasphemy means is to talk against god and offend our Heavenly Father. I hear people do it all the time. It’s the act of disrespect or insulting the lord. The act of cursing the lord is considered extreme blasphemy. The video helped me a lot to understand unforgivable sins

I accept your Word that all have sinned; Lord forgive me for I know I am a sinner, but I want the Lord to live in me so that I can be guided accordingly.
