Avoid It! - Spiritual Growth Encouragement Series

Bible Verses: Proverbs 4:23

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life."

Reflect and Respond:

Having a plan in place helps, so if possible, make a plan to help you avoid temptation today. Here are some additional verses to help you focus your thoughts: 1 Corinthians 10:13, Psalm 119:11, James 4:7. Finally, how can we pray for you today?

Father, I confess my sin to You and thank You for Your forgiveness. I know that through You I can have victory over temptation. Help me to avoid temptation and live in Your victorious power today. Amen.

Very true - where we put our energy, the seeds will blossom. If you put your time and energy on thinking about nothing but the temptation you are faced with, you will give in. It becomes all you can think about. Instead, instantly call out to God for strength and move on. We all have a fleshly nature, and temptations will often arise - we need to strengthen our faith muscles and walking away will get easier and easier as time moves forward. If God is for us - who can be against us?

Arnie you say you was in your 40s when you started following Christ, I didn’t have such a choice because of my grandmother I been with God even before I was 4 year old. As I reach my early to mid 20s I even wanted to go into the ministry but God said (No) and God told me why. God had another plan for me and here I am in my mid 60s and I writing this so you can read it. You see over the year I have send the world different than how most people see it. I see the possibility that this world could be and the heart that most people have of humanity, yet people mind gets tainted over the unjust thoughts of others because it fit more into ideology of the way things should be than the way things needs to be and the way people want it to be most of the time doesn’t coincide the way God wanted it to be. Which in up in a very weird conundrum of the truth to what is totally fiction. I have found myself walking a path that I wouldn’t have chosen to follow but it was a path I had to follow in order to see what I needed to see which is outside of the norm that everyone else seems to follow. Would I have chosen to see things differently if I had the choice to do so. No I won’t but it wasn’t my choice to choose what I needed to see. The world is going through a change in which more and more people will be turning away from God because they want their Heaven here on Earth. Just last weekend along should have shown the people who have the true Faith in God but it too have fallen to blind eyes. How many time have we heard don’t worship false idol yet it have fallen on deaf ear, by see people praise a Golden idol of Donald Trump. How in the world did one person who said he did more for christianity than Jesus Christ became more popular than God?
