There Are Guarantees in Life

January 7

Read Ephesians 1:12-14 that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory.

According to this passage, why can we rest assured of our salvation?

A friend of mine once told me that when she was younger, she struggled with having confidence that she was truly saved. She had accepted Christ when she was about 7 or 8 years old, and she spent the next few years, fearful that she hadn’t done something right when she accepted Jesus. How was she supposed to know if she was really saved or not? She struggled to fall asleep at night because she was afraid she was going to die and find out that she wasn’t really saved at all.

This story makes me sad, but I am sure she is not alone in this experience. How can we know for sure that we are in Christ? Paul makes it very clear that when we hear the word of truth, which is the gospel of salvation, and respond to it with faith, then we are sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the “guarantee of our inheritance.”

When a man promises to marry a woman, he offers an engagement ring as a symbol or token to demonstrate his intentions to wed her. In business and banking, earnest money, down payments, deposits, and collateral are given upfront to demonstrate a person’s intentions to pay back their loan.

You may have heard that in life there are no guarantees. But this is not true for followers of Christ. If we have accepted Christ, we are guaranteed to inherit as a child of God. God has given us the Holy Spirit to demonstrate His intentions towards us. The Holy Spirit is the proof of His promises.

We don't have our full inheritance yet. We are not yet living in eternal glory with God. But while we wait for the culmination of God’s great plan, and we wait for Jesus to return, we can be at peace. We have been sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. So rest in that blessed assurance today, friend.

Father, thank You. Not only for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ but also for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for the evidence of the Holy Spirit working in my life so that I can fully trust that You will keep Your promises to me. All for Your glory alone. Amen.

Praise you God, for giving me Your Holy Spirit to live and indwells in me. He is my everlasting companion and guide
Thank You Lord Jesus for exposing me to Your gospel of salvation, which is the Word of God and which is true. Also, thank You for allowing me to enjoy the presence of the Holy Spirit as a result.
Thank you God for the gift of the Holy Spirit
Thank you Lord for the gift of the Holy Spirit, I depend on the Holy Spirit everyday. I am sealed. "Thanks."
Thank you for the encouragement in these troubled times.
I had a similar situation. I thought I had been saved with my mom when I was 7 or8. Years later when I was pregnant with our first child, I asked my parents if they remembered my salvation. They remembered my brothers being saved, but not me. My dad gave me a couple verses and I went and knelt before the Lord and He confirmed my salvation with John 14:27. Thank you, Lord!
Heavenly Gracious Father, I am so thankful to You for sending Your Holy Spirit. Father I do sometimes feel that I have not done something right or am not doing enough. I am and will continue to put my faith and trust in You. I know You are near, guiding and directing me. Thank You Father. In Your Son Jesus name I pray, Amen.
I was kinda like that I was 8 when I loved my Father God and his son Jesus I prayed for my mom to be saved. It took almost 40 yrs same for my dad. They r with Jesus now in a wonderful place. We must always put our Trust in God and continue to ask his guidance.
Amen! "Spirit of the living God fall afresh on me today".
This is such A wonderful promis from God our Father🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’ve received the Holy Spirit yet I’ve not ever thought of it like that. Thank you I pray I never stifle that given to me but each moment of each day allow it to strengthen and grow. Amen!
I guess when we do sin, we don’t live up to the commitment of the Seal that the Holy Spirit maintains on us as believers in Christ. However, with repentance we are set back on the path of righteousness and deeper faith. Thank you Father,Son, and Holy Spirit....
Glory be to God. Truth...Amen, by the grace and help of God.
This reassurance, especially in these present times, cannot be heard too much. Thank You, Dear Lord God!
Amen. To God be the glory!
We are given a guarantee from Jesus but sometimes we act poorly and ask ourselves how can I have the Holy Spirit in me and do that. We all need encouragement to know that God is always with us even if we sin. Repent and trust Jesus each day for there is no other way. Amen
