The Lifeline of God’s Word - Your Daily Forward Devotional

The Lifeline of God’s Word

April 28, 2020

Read 1 Thessalonians 2:13

“And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.”

Why is the Bible unlike any book ever written? How is it the “Word of God”? How does it comfort you in times of trouble?

Charles Stanley once said, “The most valuable item you can own in the time of trouble is a Bible.” I’ve found mine indispensable. The Word of God was alive and powerful as I learned not to keep my attention riveted on a constant rehearsal of what’s happening in the world or all the whys, for that would make me easy prey for Satan—but on the truth. Day by day with my “Peace Packet,” as my collection of Bible verses in a small ziplock bag came to be known, I focused on Christ and His promises.

Verses such as “I am with you and will rescue you” (Jeremiah 1:8 niv) and “Jehovah himself is caring for you!” (Psalm 121:5 tlb) dispelled fear. Psalm 112:6–9 became a passage that strengthened my faith: “For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries, He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor” (esv).

Every time we open our Bibles, we encounter the Living Word, verses that are God-breathed truths meant to break us free from worry, from fear, and anything else that would hold us in bondage (John 8:32). His truth brings us out of old patterns of worried, anxious thinking and helps us fight the good fight. We certainly can’t fight these powerful emotions in our own strength, wish them away, or hope they will go away if we think positive thoughts.

Lord, thank You for Your Living Word. Help me to meditate on Scripture. Help me to hear Your voice and obey Your guidance. Amen.

We look forward to your comments, questions, and prayers in these devotionals!

This is one of the verses from Scriptures that comes to mind when I am overwhelmed with physical pain: "Whom have I in heaven but YOU? And there is none on earth that I desire besides YOU. My flesh and my heart fail; but GOD is the strength of my heart and my portion, forever." (Psalm 73:25-26) It has become my Lifeline!. Thank you Jesus!
This is why we are the Christ-followers, God is for us who can stand against.
DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER;JESUS PLEASE I ONLY NEED TO HEAR YOUR VOICE & GUIDANCE;& OBEY@your child;Virginia r.gomez Garcia&a!! my family;etc;ThankyouJesus!@
Thank you for today's devotional! God's Word is for all 'seasons' of our lives. We are reminded of this in Hebrews 4v22: "For The Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart". Father, thank You for Your all encompassing Word which is alive and active in our daily lives.
A great reminder that we can't fight emotions and attacks from the enemy in our own strength. Thank you.
How precious is the Word of God, always a live, always current that brings renewal, strenght, confort and salvación to those who seek in it the presence of the Living God. Well say Psalm 119, your word is a lamp at my feet and a light to my way.
Thank you Father fir your word ! Amen ✝️🙏
Hi Pamela - we are praying for you to be able to turn it all over to God today & to grow closer to him daily!
As we need food and drink to sustain our bodies so we need Heavenly food and drink Jesus Christ who is the Living Word for our spirits that we may continue to live on in his way
We need the Bible everyday like food for our body, it is food for our soul. Thank the Lord for his word.
Nice job! Yes; God's Word is "a very pleasant help" in tine of need. Thank You!
That is only a distraction, refocus on the presence of Christ the Lord who says, ' I will never leave nor forsake you' and 'cast your cares upon Me, for I care for you'. Let Christ fight your battle!
Most of time for me, I really have a hard time hearing from my Heavenly Father because I am so angry at the situation that I am in. I struggle with letting the anger go.Some people make me feel like it's my fault when really it's there's. Thank you very much for your Prayers in advance Pamela Ivins
