Stability in an Unstable World

April 21, 2020

Read Philippians 3:12-14

“ Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Are you able to find stability in your relationship with Jesus? Why is it important to forget what lies behind and “strain forward to what lies ahead”?

God is our stability in an unstable world. He is our unchangeable certainty when everything around us is changing. And there’s no more secure, safe place than in the center of His will and purpose for our lives.

Having our eyes on the Lord in this way is vital—David experienced it and described it throughout the Psalms. No matter how bad he was hurting or what he was fearing, he turned his focus to God and proclaimed who He was. Though he was surrounded by a host of enemies time after time, he could say, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1 niv). Paul, too, said we must fix our eyes on Jesus and press on to know Him (Philippians 3). Even John, the great disciple, needed to have his eyes on the Lord (Revelation 1).

When we look to God and focus on Him instead of our problems and worries, we gain His perspective and our distress begins to subside. It doesn’t mean we won’t go through difficult times or experience pain. But we begin to know and believe that we can trust Him in the midst of our circumstances, for He is trustworthy.

Lord, help me to find stability in You. Help me to fix my eyes on Your goodness, especially when I am fearful. Amen.

If i am able to find stability in my relation with Jesús. Yes i am, Jesús is the meaning of my life above the support of food, health, roof. It's my only inspiración, my foundation where rest my whole life, that keeps me conscious.
Why is ir important to forget what lie behind and strain forward to what lie ahead?
Because human being has the tendency to the confort, to look for it's personal welfare, to achieve certain level of understanding or justice and to think that after that everything will be right. But the purpose of God is completely different from the thoughts or men.

Help me Father to focus on you and not what’s going on around me ! Like Paul said concentrate on the unseen and not what is seen , for who is seen is temporary and what is unseen is eternal with you in Heaven ! Amen ✝️🙏🇺🇸
