Replacing Worry for Wonder - Your Daily Forward Devotional

Replacing Worry for Wonder
Published 3/30/20

Read Hebrews 1:1-4
"Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs."

How does it make you feel, knowing that Jesus is "heir of all things" and "the radiance of the glory of God"? How can we regain the wonder of God?

The vision of God's greatness can empower you to not worry or panic even though you may face overwhelming loss, pain, and danger. It can sustain and strengthen you, knowing that God will be your stability in an unstable world. He is our unchangeable certainty when everything around us is changing. And there's no more secure, safe place than in the center of His will and purpose for our lives.

Having our eyes on the Lord in this way is vital--David experienced it and described it throughout the Psalms. No matter how bad he was hurting or what he was fearing, he turned his focus to God and proclaimed who He was. Though he was surrounded by a host of enemies time after time, he could say, "The Lord is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lordis the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1 niv). Paul, too, said we must fix our eyes on Jesus and press on to know Him (Philippians 3). Even John, the great disciple, needed to have his eyes on the Lord (Revelation 1).

When we look to God and focus on Him instead of our problems and worries, we gain His perspective and our distress begins to subside. It doesn't mean we won't go through difficult times or experience pain. But we begin to know and believe that we can trust Him in the midst of our circumstances, for He is trustworthy.

Lord, help me to focus on Your authority, Your goodness, Your radiance. I worship and praise You, Jesus. Amen.

We look forward to your comments, questions, and prayers in these devotionals!

Mark - we continue to keep you in our prayers!
I will be praying for you, Mark. Feelings and emotions will compromise The Truth of The Gospel message of God's sacrificial love for all of us. John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world (Mark) that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever (Mark) believe in Him, will not perish, but have Eternal Life with Him. The Book of Romans tells us that "We have ALL sinned and have fallen short of God's Glory. For the wages or payment for sin is death, eternal separation from God, but the GIFT of God is Eternal Life in Christ Jesus, our Lord. I will pray that Christ Love be real in your heart and life. God bless you.

God never promised we would get everything we wanted in life. He has plans for all of us and His plans go with His timing. You may not understand now or never at all. But have complete faith in Him and trust Him. He loves us and that’s the truth. I know it hurts and I am sorry for your loss. But please, pray and surrender yourself to Him. He will reveal His plans to you when the timing is right. I will pray for you.
I am glad that Jesus had given us as a child of God.
Jesus is our ROCK
Mark, I know the pain and heartache of losing a loved one, words cannot express these feelings, but Our Heavenly Father does. He will never leave or forsake you, even when your emotions are saying otherwise. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. It might feel that God is ignoring your prayer request, but scripture offers us insight as to why He might appear to be silent. Psalm 84v11 says: "no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly ". God has 3 answers when we pray, yes, no, and wait. He sees and knows the future (we don't ), He knows what's best for us. Trust His judgement, His timing is always better than ours. If you are walking uprightly, have unwavering faith, and what you are asking for is truly a good thing, then according to Ps.84v11, God will not withhold, it's just isn't time. Remember also, that since He knows what's best for you, He maybe sparing you a bigger heartache. He knows what's best for you always, and He is a loving Father! Please keep on praying and seeking His will. He loves you unconditionally! Be encouraged!
I poured myself into GOD for 7 months after feeling that GOD had directed me to go after my only grandchild Brooklyn. Not for custody but to be part of her life. I had already lost my only child Amber in Aug of 2013. I believed in every promise GOD had said. Put my full trust in his words. Made my faith solid he would not leave me. A day before the hearing, GOD left me. He lied and betrayed me. I literally felt HIS PRESENCE leave my body. The warmness leave and the chilling cold enter. I lost my case. How does he expect me to trust him now? That was the cruelest thing that he has ever done to me. I would expect that kind of reaction from satan not from GOD. But this came from GOD. How do you explain that?

I am learning to place all my fears and everything in my life on God hands.. I know I can trust him and let him lead me to where he wants me to be at .. in today's society we all lost our ways in one form or another. Mir is time to put God back in everything we do or say ..
Great devotion and great comments! May the Lord Jesus strength you all and give you great joy. Amen
It is hard work focusing on the Lord when the worlds distractions constantly interfere, but I'm finding using those distractions to refocus on trusting the Lord is helping me. Deepening my faith leads to deeper trust, for trust comes from faith!
God has helped me and I got a copy of the of the John Mac Arthur study Bible and I follow it very carefully, and above all ,I don't miss your daily teachings by the pastor and Bible teacher Brian Clark ,thank you so so so much and my praise to our God . I mostly thank God for using you and your obedience to surrender to His will ,am most thankful because if it were not you teachers I would not have known God ,here in Uganda we need a revival cause every pastor we have is under the will of Satan looking at outward and materialism than looking for God who changes hearts and saves lives ,they are totally focused on worldly pressure than spiritual growth but I thank God for His grace, because of your devotionals you send to us ,I have managed to believe God and I ran out of those so called churches , So may the loving God bless you alot ,we have nothing to give but we pray for you always.
