Pray the Lord’s Prayer - Your Daily Forward Devotional

Pray the Lord’s Prayer

April 15, 2020

Read Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)
“This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ ”
In what ways is the Lord’s Prayer a perfect prayer? What do you learn from these special words? What is Jesus telling us to focus on?

Christ has given us the perfect prayer. His words in Matthew 6:9-13—known as the Lord’s Prayer—offer us a revelation of how we should pray because it mirrors God’s will for His people. It says it all for how Christians should live, and it provides the Jesus-breathed basics of what He thought we should focus on. When prayed diligently, with thoughtful reverence, it clears out the mistakes of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow, and gets our mind off of the problems, cares, worries, inadequacies, and failures of the day. As we take to heart these powerful words, the Lord transforms our desires, molding them more into what He’d rather they be—desiring the Great Commandment: Loving God and loving others.

We should never misuse this remarkable prayer by praying it with the wrong motives or mechanically repeating the words. In other words, praying from your head and not your heart. We must pray these words from our heart, our mind, and with our whole being.

Lord, Jesus, You have shown us how to live through this amazing passage. Teach me, strengthen me, and show me how to live out this prayer. Amen.

We look forward to your comments, questions, and prayers in these devotionals!

I love breaking down example of prayer that Jesus gave us first of all directions who are you praying to then and declares who he is he is Holy, in other words be reverent declare God's kingdom down on Earth his will down on Earth because it's already in heaven we need to bring it down he has given us the keys to the to the kingdom the Gates of Hell shall not prevail so let's pray it down so we pray according to his word according to his will so we have to be Living Sacrifice that we might prove what is that good , acceptable, and perfect will of God how is it in heaven no sickness no disease no worries no fears total Victory peace total Deliverance healing Wisdom pray His will down, boldness to preach remember that from Acts. Confess the promises confess his word. Never blame him on his timing cuz he still Sovereign he might know something that you just might not. I'm not saying name it and claim it but remember proverbs says give me neither riches nor poverty riches so I forget my God or poverty so I profane the name of my God and steal. Let It Be Your Daily needs that are met, every thing that sustains you that's what you pray for what you need for that day then you forgive because you forgive you ask for forgiveness and as you forgive don't lead you into temptation that's what keep your feet for stumbling Psalm 91 they shall bear you up in their hands speaking about the Angels lest you dash your foot against a stone or unless you walk in the flesh so keep me walking in your spirit deliver me from evil noone is tempted by God but each one is tempted by his own desires, because it is his kingdom his power and Glory that we're supposed to be manifesting here on Earth we are his servants we must show forth him declaring his power his glory. And now that I shared this check out John 17 cuz isnt that not exactly the way Jesus prayed again for himself for his disciples and then for those who would believe who would come later he carried out a full example this prayer in John 17 let that strengthen you let that help you in your walk with the Lord. Develop your prayer life with him as an example the prayer that Jesus gave it's a blueprint
