“And be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?” (amp)
In what ways is the Lord our Helper? How does it make you feel knowing that the Lord will never leave us nor will He forsake us?
Sometimes we question why we are in a situation that’s beyond our control and try our best to wiggle out. Then we end up frustrated that our attempts fail. This must be an accident, something that slipped through God’s hand; this awful situation can’t be God’s will.
Oh, how we wish we could control things so everything would go smoothly for us and our loved ones, so they wouldn’t have problems, and neither would we if we could just manage it all! But since we can’t, here is one key thing we can do: Meditate on Scripture to help keep your focus on the truth instead of the things that are worrying you.
God’s promises remind you how much He cares for you and your loved ones. They help you remember that the One who created us loves each one of us more than we can ever imagine. We are secure in His loving, strong hands. The Bible gives us promise after promise and countless prayers that help us pray in agreement with His will and purpose for our lives.
Here’s one more thing I encourage you to do: Look up and read Isaiah 30:15 and Psalm 94:19. What do these verses say about how we can have a quiet heart? Both offer keys about how we can experience hope and confidence in the midst of a trial that doesn’t improve or end as we’d hoped. Most of all, they are reminders that God is in control.Pray
Lord, help me to trust that You’ll never fail or forsake me, that you will always support me and that You are for me. Nothing can happen to me apart from Your loving hand. I take comfort and am encouraged and want to say with confidence. You are my Helper! I will not fear or be terrified! Amen.
