Lifequakes and Heartaches - Your Daily Forward Devotional

Lifequakes and Heartaches Published 2/17/20 Read James 1:12 "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him." Reflect What does it mean to remain "steadfast under trial"? A busy Christian couple achieves the American dream ... at the expense of their family. A church leader is praised as a moral giant--at least in public. (As for his private life, it would score a "XXX" rating.) A lonely wife cries herself to sleep each night. "Wasn't it 'love at first sight'? So why'd he have an affair?" Temptation often sways us in small, subtle ways. We allow our eyes to linger or we tell "a little white lie." Just one more drink, we promise ourselves, one more click of a mouse. A compromise here, a shortcut there. No one got hurt, and no one knows ... so no big deal. Yet the pattern is set, and little by little the compromises grow bigger, the shortcuts more extreme. The more we give in, the more we become comfortable with our choices. I can't help feeling angry when I hear stories like these. What senseless losses ... what needless heartaches. It doesn't have to turn out this way, especially for believers. Why remain stuck and miserable when the God we so desperately want to follow has the power to get us unstuck? Jesus Christ is reaching out with forgiveness, comfort, hope, freedom, strength, guidance, peace, wisdom, transformation ... real life, real answers, real faith ... exactly what we need at the very moment we need it! Do we truly believe this? If so, what keeps us from accepting it? Pray Lord, give me the strength to remain steadfast under trial. Help me to withstand the test and receive the crown of life. Amen. This is so true. We tend to overlook so many little things in our lives that can grow into big things. I pray to God for understanding, guidance, and strength to overcome. Thank you Jesus
Good afternoon. I think doubt comes in when we lean on our own understanding.. When we trust in our own feelings and stay stuck in Self rather than walking in the Spirit. Do I have those days? Oh yes, forgive me Lord. I like to look at Creation as we have been taught in the Bible. How could there not be a GOOD and GRACIOUS GOD? I also write alot of stuff down to clear it from my mind and get into the Word. Moving or falling forward has been key. The next step. A good cry never hurts either ?. God is there to hear even our whispers. Maybe my comment can help someone. My prayer is that it does. Amen and Hallelujah.❤️
Lord, please help me to be steadfast, to get close to you in the midst of my trial! You are allowing it to happen to stretch my faith and to strengthen my faith! In Jesus Strong Name, Amen
Lord, help others to see you in me, as you lead me every step of the way.
Lord please help me in my every day life situation in Jesus name Amen
The truth of God’s word about sin is so deceptive because it doesn’t seem to hurt at first but it leads to death. Flee from sin before it slaves you and there is sadness and despair at every turn. Please help us Jesus to love and trust you. For Jesus glory and our joy. Amen
