Keys to Spiritual Growth

Published 3/2/20

Read Romans 12:11-13

"Don't burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don't quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians, be inventive in hospitality" (The Message).

What helps you grow spiritually?

God wants our desire: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength' " (Mark 12:30).

How about you? Does God have your desire?

Are you ready to take some gutsy steps toward spiritual growth?

No doubt, there's a lot of advice out there. Every person, group or church can readily offer guidelines of how to live a proper Christian life. But through all the confusion and opinion, there are some tried-and-true ways that believers throughout history have used in their pursuit of living a Godly life. Christ wants us to know Him better. He does not hide from us like some cruel hide-in-seek game. He died for us! And He has given us some wonderful gifts such as prayer, community, and the Bible.

In our research at Back to the Bible, we found that the third most common definition of spiritual maturity focuses on knowing and living the principles found in God's Word. He has given us this amazing tool. It's ours to read and study and incorporate into our lives every day.

Sure, everyone loves to debate the Bible. It's a hot topic among believers and non-believers alike. Don't fall victim to the distraction. Don't try to define it before you have even read it. Don't rely on advice from the experts--read it and find out for yourself. Don't let this amazing tool from God get lost in the mist of our busy schedules and an ever growing "to do" list.

Lord, help me to put You first in my life. Help my desire for You and faith in You to grow. Amen.

We look forward to your comments, questions, and prayers in these devotionals!

As I reflected on today's meditation I was again in awe of Christ's love for me/us. A love so great and unconditional, He died for my sins so that I could have eternal life, and blessed me with varying gifts. My human mind cannot comprehend and fathom this, but I want and hunger to know Him more fully and grow in His Word...I am thankful!
