He Will Be with You - Your Daily Forward Devotional

He Will Be with You

December 22

Read Isaiah 43:1-2a

But now, this is what the LORD says-He who created you, Jacob, He who formed You, Israel: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you...

Reflect

How does it make you feel to know that God is with you?

Occasionally, one of my kids wakes up lonely or scared in the night. All alone in the darkness can be a terrifying feeling. When they do get scared in the night, they usually don't just lay there afraid. They run to their parents' room, where they know they will receive the reassurance they need. When they run to us, they are reminded of our presence. They remember that while it might seem like they are all alone, we are still there with them. Our presence calms their fears and brings them peace.

Friends, that is what God's presence does for us, too. It calms our fears and brings us peace. I don't know what you are facing right now. But if you are feeling lonely or afraid, don't just lay there alone in the dark. Run to the Father to be reminded of His presence. He says, "Fear not!" He reminds us that He made us and that we belong to Him. He knows us deeply, and He calls us by name. We are His. Most comforting of all-He is with us.

When it feels like we are going to be swept away and completely overwhelmed-He is with us. When the darkness is casting shadows on the wall-He is with us. When the pressure is on, and we feel alone under great stress-He is with us. When it feels like no one else is around who cares-He is with us. And He loves us. We are His.

If you are struggling with a sense of loneliness, do not be afraid or discouraged. You are not alone. Run to the Father. Dig deep into His Word. Pray. Cry out to Him. Seek His presence to remind yourself that He is still there.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD, your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:6). You aren't alone!

Pray

Father, thank You for Your presence. It brings me so much peace to know that You are with me. Amen.

I am encouraged by this passage and devotional because I regenerate by being alone That is so different from being lonely. Even before my busy God given medical career, four children as a single parent and now 17 grandchildren; I savour my personal life with the Lord ( Isaiah 54:5). He is my refuge. I love Him.
I thank and praise God for He is always with me. Thank you for strengthening me with this beautiful message
Carolyn - I am praying for you today Carolyn!
Chuck - thank you for sharing with others! Merry Christmas!
Thanes Pastor Nat. It was interesting that just before I read your post, I had read a post from Dr David Jeremiah on "Immanuel, God with us" and then reading your post just added to it. I am involved in a prison pen pal ministry and I will be using yours and Dr. Jeremiah's posts to encourage my pen pals. Thanks!
Amen.
Thank you for these word of encouragement! May we never forget that God is with us and be given the courage to help others come to know Him....
Thank you, Pastor Nat, this devotional was on time!
Thank you I really need this devotional today
Thank you Jesus for this timely word.
Thank you Jehovah. It's reassuring to know you are always there with me and for me. Hallelujah
Thank You Lord for your presence all around me
I so needed to hear this today. Thank you for showing us how to run towards God (praying, crying out, seeking). Sometimes I feel like maybe I'm not crying out loud enough? I am lonely and afraid. Help me God please. Amen
Its so wonderful we have God to go to and take care of us and not be lonely and scared. Amen
T hank you Father for always being with me
Thank you for the reminder. My wife and I have been going through so much. This year has been the most challenging of our journey together. But I refuse to give in even it looks to be the darkest. If I can just see a speckle of light it'll grow to cast away the darkness. Thank you again.
This is a very sound analogy of a child running to his or her parent when awoken in the darkness for assurance that all is right. We must “run to God” as His child when our “world becomes dark” for assurance that God is in control and “things are right.
*THANKYOUJESUS*
