He Cares for Our Cares
Read 1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
How does knowing that Jesus cares for you give you peace?
I am sure you've heard the phrase "not a care in the world." But when is the last time you can honestly say that you've felt that way? Most adults have so many responsibilities and are under too much pressure to succeed. We are aware of the evil in the world around us. We know how quickly things can take a turn for the worse. As a result of all of this and more, for many people, having even just a few moments without a care in the world is a rare experience.
And yet, Peter tells us there is a way to be rid of our cares. He said to cast all of your anxiety on Jesus. To "cast" means "to throw." When you cast something, the idea is to get it as far away from you as possible.
Friends, we should be casting off our fear and anxiety. We do not need to carry those burdens. In fact, Jesus has offered to carry this burden for us because He loves us!
How can we "cast off" or "throwaway" our cares and give them to Jesus? One way would be to write down the worries that we feel. Then, spend time in prayer, giving those specific fears to the Lord. Ask Him to carry those burdens for you. Then, crumble up the paper and toss it in the trash.
Cast all of your anxieties on Him. He can bear the burden for you. He can handle it. And He cares about You more than you can comprehend.
God, I know that You are strong and mighty. You can carry the weight of all the burdens that I am struggling to carry. I am casting off my worries and tossing them onto You. Thank You for bearing my burdens for me. Amen
