God Knows You - Your Daily Forward Devotional

God Knows You

March 4

Read Psalm 139:1-4 (ESV)

O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.

How does it make you feel to know that God knows you so intimately?

For many of us, the idea of having someone constantly watching our every move would freak us out. The concept of meeting someone who could not just read our thoughts in real time but also predict our future thoughts would be unnerving to say the least. We loathe the idea of someone intruding on our privacy and would not willingly allow someone to bug our phones or watch our every move inside our own homes.

And yet, the God of the universe is able to do all of those things. He knows everything about us. The secret sin that we try to hide. The hurtful words we think about others but refrain from saying. He knows the real heart and attitude behind our words and actions. He sees us just as we are. Unfiltered. We are completely vulnerable and laid bare before Him.

And yet, David, the author of Psalm 139, viewed the fact that God knew Him so intimately as a good thing. David knew God’s omniscience is for our benefit as well. God knows what is best for us, even when we can’t understand His ways. But if we follow Him, He guides us and protects us. In verse 5, David says, “You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.” As a parent encloses a baby’s play area to keep him safe and holds his hand to cross the street, God hems us within His boundaries and guides us along His paths for us for our own protection.

David knew that God is not just all-knowing, He is omnipresent (everywhere present). There is nowhere that we can go to get away from God. He is with us always. David knew that God had been with him from the womb and that He would be with him forever. Before David had conscious thought and before He was even born, God knew him and knew how David’s life would unfold. “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them (v .16)

When we yield our lives to Him and submit to His ways, it is no longer unnerving that God knows us so intimately. Instead, it is a great comfort that God knows all about us and loves us regardless. There is great peace in knowing that He is always present with us. Friends, you are fully known and never alone.

God, You know me better than I know myself and yet You still love me. You have been with me since before I was born, and You know my future. Thank You for Your loving presence in my life and for guiding me with Your great wisdom. Amen.

I Love that Father knows me so well. There is nothing to hide, nothing to be ashamed of. I can just be myself and talk to Him honestly about anything.
Nobody knows me as You do and nobody loves me as You do, so take my life Lord and direct every step I take and every thought I keep for I cannot hide even my most secret thought from Your omniscience.
I feel god is with me and gets closer to me as I speak his words

Yes Lord help me regulate my mind so I may walk in your ways amen
I have to say yes to know that you know my every thoughts now and coming forward is frightening and at the same time makes me feel sad and guilty for the same done and about to be done. But Lord God it’s so comforting to know that your grace is always with us your forgiveness is everlasting and your love is eternal thank you father God for that in Jesus mighty name amen
Intimate times require intimate thoughts. Thank you Lord God for your intimate thoughts toward me. Help me to walk with you every day.
Yes, frightening - to be “fully known” by our Father. On the flip side, this why our Father has provided His Lamb for sacrifice to atone for our sin - because He fully knows us and loves us. Father, Son, and Holy Spirt please help guide me away from my own sinful nature and to walk in your ways....Amen!
We are bessed to be loved despite our shortcomings, but we shouldn't stop pressing toward holiness.
Thank you Lord
Amen.....praise God!!🙏
Thank you, Lord. Amen.
I also think that knowing God is watching and knows all your thoughts, what your going to do, also makes you aware and stops you from doing things you shouldn't.
Thank You Father for loving me regardless of my faults. Only a heavenly Father could love his children the way you love us. May we be reminded daily of Your mercy & grace. Amen!❤ 🙏🏼
If you really knew me you wouldn’t like me. I have said that and heard that said many times. We have things we think and do that we know are wrong. Yet Jesus knows them and still loves us. That love is difficult to understand yet is my only hope. I desire to please Jesus but I choose poorly over and over. He leads me into righteousness because of his love for me. I must have much to learn for the straight path toward sanctification has many detours. I pray that the Lord will do whatever it takes to keep me on the right path toward eternal life. Jesus make me an instrument of mercy so I may love you perfectly and reflect your glory greatly. Thank you Jesus. Amen
Jesus Thank You for loving us!!!
Jesus please help us 🙏🙏🙏
Amen! Help me to always choose Your path for me and that I am able to discern the differences set before me. In your Holy Name I pray and I give thanks for receiving it. Thank you Father for being so good to me and protecting me.
Lord thank you for loving me today and always !
