Read Ephesians 1:6-8
...to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight...
How does reflecting on God’s grace, forgiveness, and redemption impact you emotionally?
Without a doubt, many of us have been walking through a difficult season. For so many, this past year was full of disappointment, loneliness, pain, and loss. And yet, in the midst of the suffering, there is a joy that still permeates my life. What about you?
How are Christians able to feel the joy that coexists with the pain and sorrow? Because of God’s glorious grace. Paul says that in the “Beloved,” which is Christ, God blessed us with His grace. Not just a little grace but a grace that has been poured out on us lavishly. We have an excess of grace. Paul calls Jesus’s grace, “riches.” A treasure trove of grace!
This grace is more than sufficient to cover the debt of our sins. I cannot sin too much for God’s grace to run out. But neither can anyone else. God’s grace is so abundant that it can cover the sins of the entire world. Anyone who accepts Christ’s work on the cross can have access to this inexhaustible grace. He redeems us or buys us back. The price was paid by His shed blood. He died in our place and took on the punishment that we deserved. Now, we are free from the bondage of sin and free to live in the lavish riches of His grace.
And so we have good reasons for hope. We have good reasons for joy. No matter what is going on here on earth, we have blessed assurance. We will continue to experience hardship here, but we have also been exceedingly blessed! Friends, even in the midst of the struggles of life, let’s praise Him for His glorious grace, which brings us so much hope and joy.
God, I praise You for your glorious grace. For Your glory, You have redeemed me. You have forgiven my sins, and You have poured out blessings beyond measure to me. When life is hard, remind me of the eternal hope and neverending joy I have because of Your graciousness to me. Amen.
