Fix Your Eyes

Read Isaiah 25:8-9

He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of His people He will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that He might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for Him; let us be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”

Reflect

Is death something that is hard for you to think about? What hope do you have in the face of death?

Death isn’t something that we like to sit around and think about. Many people live in denial of the reality of death for as long as they can. But eventually, we are all going to die. The people we love are going to die. This is a reality for all of mankind because of the fall in the garden. Romans 5:12 says, “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, so death spread to all men because all sinned-.” All have sinned, and all will die.

In our present pandemic circumstances, the threat of death is much more obvious. It is more difficult to walk around, pretending that we won’t ever die when something like this occurs. So what do we do? Do we live in fear of death? Or do we choose to live in hope?

I am choosing to live in hope—the hope of Jesus. The prophet Isaiah pronounced God’s promise that through Jesus, He will swallow up death forever. Jesus’s death on the cross has paid the penalty for your sin. His resurrection has triumphed over death. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, He is offering you salvation. As a believer, you, too, can triumph over death in the resurrection.

Have you accepted that offer? If you have, you can look forward to the day Jesus returns and wipes away every tear. Death will be no more.

In the Lord of the Rings, Sam asks Gandalf, “Is everything sad going to come, untrue?” As believers in Christ, we can say, yes. Yes, it is.

Today, let’s fix our eyes on our Hope. Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation. He has swallowed up death forever. Hallelujah!

Pray

O LORD, we are waiting expectantly for Your return, and we are rejoicing in the promise of Your salvation. Amen.

My husband passed the 3rd of February after a 4.5 year battle with cancer. He used to tell me he would love me forever and into eternity, and I would tell him the best is yet to be. It is hard, prayers for comfort for you as you go through this time, but please know God is faithful. My husband's favorite poem was the The Footprints poem.
Yes HOPE As A Believer I Personally Know That Jesus Is Coming Back However, I Don't Know The Time Nor The Day Or Date Or Month But He's Coming.
Reading this so reminds me of the wonderful song - Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace. And then the song - I Can Only Imagine.
Oh what blessed assurance! There is hope in God :)
Wonderfully encouraging. I have a loved one battling cancer, and my heart is breaking.
Amen
Hallelujah! For the redeemed, death is swallowed up in victory for ever and ever! And we shall live with Jesus for all eternity! Great joy is coming! We get a glimpse of this in Revelation 19v6 (NIV): "Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: Hallelujah! For our Lord, God Almighty reigns"! "Even so come Lord Jesus!"
Amen
As I read of our great hope, we who are resting in it as God’s children were reminded that it is secure because of Jesus Christ our Savior & Lord. At closing in on 82, and with some health issues, I’m looking forward to death, as Paul admittedly stated, to with Christ, “is far better”. Yet, I’m glad to be alive here on earth, too, because I have a loving and loved wife with whom I share my life. We do talk together about dying, and without fear. But we share a common prayer to our Wonderful Heavenly Father: “Father God, we would love to be with You, but we ask that You allow us to be together here as long as we need each other’s loving care! And Father, we also would love to be used by You to bless our loved ones with Your love. Never-the-less, Thy will be done.” I also thought of this passage in Romans 6:1-6 (ESV) . It is a reminder to me of how The Father desire me to live here in this sinful world, in a holy response to the grace that is mine because of and in Christ Jesus. So here is this wonderful passage: 1-3 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4-6 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. - Romans 6:1-6
In death I have the promise of God that I will be with Him in heaven. I'm looking for that day.
Abba I just waiting when I will come there I want to b there with u lord change me and make me like u
Death where is your victory, where is your sting? Jesus rescued us from its power and we will live forever with him! Hallelujah!!
But even if our bodies are breaking down on the outside, the person that we are on the inside is being renewed every day. Lord, as we get older and our physical bodies are getting weaker, fill us with the hope of our heavenly home and yourimminant return.
I am looking forward to seeing Jesus but just not yet!!!! I have grandbabies I have to see growing up!!!! I love you Jesus a whole bunches!!!
God, and his promises will prevail. He is Almighty God. We can do "NOTHING " without The Lord Jesus Christ. We all need to stop, Belive , and think Who our Heavenly Father really is... He made every creature on this earth, before he created a man. He moled him out of the dust, but still no life, Until he blew breath into him. he was molded to look like him, B ut no comparison to his power. But he died for every living being on this earth , so that we may live free of sin, because his love for us he gave up his life.....
Amen . Praying. God's word is right all by himself.
To know this is to know true life. And to know true life, by this we can believe in the true Christ!
From what I've experienced in my life, I can't wait for this sinful body to be given the ultimate upgrade!
What a day that will be when jesus comes in the clouds to get us praise god
