Do You Know the Way to the Father?

July 23, 2020

Read John 14: 1-6

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father?

One of the lies many people believe is that if they just believe in God, they will go to Heaven. They may believe that He created the world, they may believe in judgment and Heaven and hell. They may even believe that Jesus existed and was a good man and teacher, maybe even a prophet. But if they deny that Jesus is God and if they reject Him as Messiah, it is not enough.

When Jesus spoke these words to his disciples, He was eating the Passover meal with them. He had just washed their feet, predicted Judas’ betrayal and Peter’s denial, and told them that He was leaving them. Naturally, after hearing so much bad news, they were ready to hear some comforting words. Jesus offered them this assurance-He is preparing a place for them and He will come back to get them. They will be with Him again!

But He also said, “You believe in God; believe also in me.” And He told them that He is THE way. Not a way. He was very clear that in order to get to our Heavenly Father, we have to come through Him. Believe in God, believe in Jesus. There is no other way.

Jesus is preparing a place for you too, friend. And He is the only way to get there.

Lord Jesus, I know that You are the way and the truth that gives me life. Thank you for the promise that I get to be with You someday. Amen.

Thank you for the comments and for the great questions. God's forgiveness is unending for His children. So does God have a limit to His forgiveness for His children? Never. Does God's patience run out? The Bible gives ample recognition of His patience. And we know whom He loves He loves, He disciplines. Which goes back to your first question. God will lovingly discipline us when we sin, but He offers us a great amount of mercy and grace in the process. But is doubting God or being upset with God sinful? Well, it can be. It depends on what you do with your doubt or with your anger. King David lamented. He wrestled with God many times. That was not sinful. The issue is if we use that anger as an excuse to sin. But doubting God is human. God is patient. He is loving. He is there for you and will continue to do so no matter what you do or what you think (or doubt).
John 14:1-6 This verse is and still is my favorite verses, I remember I was in the youth group gad to memorize verses, this the one I had memorized.
Thank you for reminding that is The Way & NOT a way to heaven...
Believing is not enough either. How do we take the next step and keep at it?
I believe in you.
Love this.
Yes, please pray on behalf of all the lost in each of our lives. As we lift them up in prayer to our Father,. Pray that God will use each of us as a means to share God's love through the Gospel to each of them, including our loved ones. In Christ Jesus name, Amen. Thank You!
Lord Jesus, I believe! Help my unbelieve! Thank you for another day, which gives me the opportunity to share your love with others. A resounding yes!! "Jesus is the only way to the Father". I am rejoicing in this certainty, I am redeemed by the precious blood of the Lamb. (Jesus). Jesus, thank You that You are the ONLY way to Abba Father. You have given us access to Him through Your finished work at Calvary's cross, and today we Your children are more than conquers. We give You thanks for making co-heirs!

yes I agree all sinners need to repent of their sin and ask forgiveness no sin is unforgivable period!
yes He is the door that we must go through, we must accept His sacrifice on the cross and repent of our sins (change our actions that are sinful) ask Him to forgive us,then and only then will we be with Him. no other way to be in heaven.

I'm so glad that Jesus didn't leave us in our lost condition, but provided a way, a door, a pathway, back to the Father. For that I am eternally grateful.
The way the truth and the light is through Jesus and I will follow him always . Amen!
I would like to know that myself
I believe that Jesus IS the only way to The Father; The thing I disagree with, is that some 'preachers' try to block certain types of sinners from Jesus so they can be saved in the eyes of The Father.
Even though I have known God and Christ my whole life, I fell away from God and was lost. I am restarting my journey today with Christ to rebuild my relationship with God and return back to the pathway that leads to eternal life. I have always believed that Christ is the pathway to God. Christ is my Shepherd and has found me again. My words are never sufficient enough to express my gratitude for His love. Christ has full authority from His Father, God, to condemn us. But today and every day He chooses to forgive me. This love is truly unfathomable to us and I don't know if we can ever understand truly the gift Christ gives us. I ask in Christ's name to be forgiven for my sins. Please, if you read this I am asking you for forgiveness as well for ever doubting God's Word, God's promises, God's Love, and Christ's Love. Also, I have a question. Does Christ forgive doubting God and Him, for falling off the pathway, for being angry with God and Him? Is there a limit to His patience and forgiveness with us?
