Believe the Evidence

Read Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-His eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Where do you see clear evidence of the Creator in what He has made and what is your response?
As I write this, I am returning home from a vacation to the Badlands and the Black Hills. Whenever I travel through an area known for its natural beauty, I feel closer to God and I’m inspired by what I’ve seen.
The fascinating rock formations of the Badlands, dense forests covering the mountains of the Black Hills, natural hot springs, and mountain streams make this area of South Dakota so rare and beautiful.
Scientists have their own explanations for how this area came to be. But when I look at this area, I can see the hand of God everywhere.
When you read your Bible, especially the Psalms, you will notice that when the authors considered nature, they worshiped God. Psalm 33: 6-9 says, “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; He puts the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him! For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.”
Creation should lead us to worship the Creator. And yet, so often we don’t. We ignore the beauty of the world around us and take it for granted. We are “too busy” to spend time enjoying the world that He created for us. We are too distracted for creation to cause us to marvel and awe over the Creator. We look for other explanations as to why things exist. And sadly, many deny Him as Creator entirely.
In Luke 19:40, Jesus is making His triumphal entry to Jerusalem, and people are praising God. The Pharisees try to quiet them, but Jesus says, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”
All of creation was made to declare that there is a God and that He is marvelous. We were made to worship Him. Let’s not leave it to the rocks.
Lord, when I look at the world You created, I am amazed. You are powerful and mighty. Open my eyes so that I notice your glory in the world around me. Open my mouth so that I praise You. Amen.
