Dear Lord,
I come before your throne of grace asking for your help. I have made so many errors of judgment in my life, I don't know what to do. I ask that you forgive me of all my sins, and clean up this mess that was my life. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen!

Psalm 91:14 (KJV)
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

Psalm 91 is about the protection of all believers in the name of Jesus. It talks about the benefits of knowing and honoring the Lord throughout our lives, and of the protection that He has promised each of us. Today's verse comes from near the end of the Psalm and talks about how the Lord honors us for loving Him. We'll break it down into smaller pieces to understand it.

The Psalm begins with, "because he hath set his love upon me." This explains why the Lord will protect someone. It appears that the Lord does not protect every person out there. Instead, He is selective. He protects those who have loved Him. If you look at your life, would you say that you have set your love upon Him? This does not mean that we live perfect lives, rather, that we continue to call upon the Lord day after day, striving to honor Him and live holy lives out of love for Him.

The Lord loves those who love Him, and He delivers them. He will protect us when we face trials; He will see to it that we are safe. This does not mean that we will never face hardships or suffering, but instead, that the Lord will not let the enemy take hold of us. He will not allow the enemy to take our hearts captive; He will protect us from sin and help us turn back to Him time and time again. We do not have to be afraid that we will lose our salvation because the Lord has promised to protect it. Even if we are not delivered from our trials on Earth, we will be delivered after death, where we will dwell with the Lord forever. This is ultimate—eternal—protection.

This verse ends with a reminder of why the Lord does these things: because we have known His name. When we know the name of the Lord, meaning that we truly know Him, we will love Him and He will love us and protect us. The Lord honors those who are trying earnestly to seek Him, and we can rest knowing that He will protect us always.

Dear Lord, I thank you for always being with me. You will protect me from anything that the enemy throws at me. I thank you that you have promised to deliver me from this world of sin and will let me dwell in your kingdom forever. I love you, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
