Day 9

Echo the Song

We rejoice in the light, and we echo the song

That comes down through the night from the heavenly throng.

Ay! we shout to the lovely evangel they bring,

And we greet in His cradle our Savior and King!

~from “There’s a Song in the Air”

Heaven is a place of worship.

In Revelation 4, we read that, day and night around the throne of God, four living creatures cry out, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (verse 8). And the 24 elders fall down before Him, casting their crowns before His throne, saying “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created” (verse 11).

When an angel announced the arrival of Jesus to the shepherds, he was suddenly  joined by “a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:13–14).

When we praise and worship and glorify God, we are echoing Heaven!

Have you spent time yet this Christmas season in adoration of “our Savior and King”?

I cherish the thought of echoing heaven in its worship of The King of Kings! That would be a part of what it meant when Jesus taught his disciples to pray that God’s will will be done on Earth as in Heaven. (I don’t recall ever attributing that part of the Lord’s Prayer to acts of singing praises.)
