Day 2
Hopes and Fears
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight
~from “O Little Town of Bethlehem”
What will you do with Jesus?
For those who accept Him, He is the incarnation of their hopes. He is freedom from the chains of sin and death, and He is the way to Heaven and eternal life.
For those who reject Him, He represents the culmination of their fears. He brings judgment and righteousness. There is nothing and no one else who can save them from Hell.
God takes no pleasure in the punishment of those who reject Him, and He is not willing that any should perish. He says, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days” (Deuteronomy 30:19).
Yes, the hopes and fears of all the years are met in Jesus Christ. He sets before us life and death. What will you choose?
