Day 18

Give My Heart

What can I give Him,

Poor as I am?

If I were a Shepherd

I would bring a lamb;

If I were a Wise Man

I would do my part,

Yet what I can I give Him,

Give my heart.

~from “In the Bleak Midwinter”

We all have that certain person in our lives who is impossible to shop for. They don’t need anything. They have everything they want. Finding the perfect Christmas gift just isn’t going to happen.

When we consider the gifts we can give to Jesus for His birthday, one can’t help but think, “What do you give the God that—quite literally—has everything?”

You give Him your heart. It’s the thing He wants most. And He wants it forever.

What will Jesus do with your heart? He will take residence there. Paul prayed in Ephesians 3:17 “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”

Is Christ dwelling in your heart this Christmas? Is He at home there, with free reign and full access?
