Day 15
Who Felt Our Human Woe
O Savior, child of Mary, who felt our human woe
O Savior, King of glory, who dost our weakness know;
Bring us at length we pray, to the bright courts of Heaven
And to the endless day!
~from “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming”
Centuries before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah described the suffering Savior as “a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief” (53:3). Jesus became one of us and shared in our human sorrows and sufferings. He understands us.
“We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus knows what it means to be human. That’s one of the reasons He came that first Christmas.
He came down to earth, to live and breathe among us, so that we could one day join Him “in the bright courts of Heaven.”
The next time you think you are alone in your anguish, hardship, or sorrow, remember that Jesus sees, He knows, and He has done what was needed in order to prepare the way for a happy ending.
