Day 1 - The Lyrics of Christmas

Day 1 

In Sin and Error Pining 

Long lay the world  

In sin and error pining 

Till He appeared  

And the soul felt its worth 

~from “O Holy Night” 

Since the very beginning when Adam and Eve fell in sin and shame, all of creation has been waiting for the day when things would be put to rights. Romans 8:22 says that “the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.”  

This longing, this pining for redemption that fills our souls is a natural result of the weight that our “sin and error” places on us.  

Christmas was the beginning of the end of that burden of sin. When Christ appeared the first time, He set into motion the deliverance of the human race and all of creation with it. When He appears again, He will bring it to completion.  

Do you long for all things to be made right? Does your soul feel the weight of your sin and error? Do you anticipate the return of Jesus Christ?
