When do you feel most blessed?
For me, I feel most blessed when I am with my family hiking in the woods or swimming in a lake or simply enjoying their presence.
As a Christian, however, the Bible prescribes a better way to be blessed.
Psalm 1 says, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night" (Psalm 1:1-2).
King David wrote Psalm 1. He knew the folly that a person can experience by the wrong influence. That's why David points out a person is blessed by who He surrounds himself with and by reading God's Word day and night.
For me, the first part is easier: choosing who I spend my time with.
I pray that I would love God's Word more and more. Let it be the desire of my heart and yours to meditate on it day and night.
Reflect: Read Psalm 1. What are the ways David describes the person who follows God's counsel? What differences are there between the wicked and the righteous?
Respond: What are you doing to integrate God's Word into your life? How will you study it more?
