Time + Matter + Chance = the origin of the universe and mankind. At least that is what the culture tells us today.
But is that the best explanation for our existence?
Hardly.
To have a creation, you must have a creator.
Who is that creator? God.
Colossians 1:15-17 says, "He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
In the beginning, there was nothing but God. No sun. No moon. No stars. No gravity. Just God. And God created everything by His very word (Genesis 1). Why? For His pleasure.
How did we get here? By chance? No way. Something cannot come from nothing. Out of nothing nothing comes.
God had intent when he created the universe, and you and I. When he saw His creation he said, "It is good." When He created Adam and Even, he said, "It is very good."
To know we are here on purpose and for a purpose should give us great peace and joy.
Reflect: Read Genesis 1. How does God's intentionality over creation change your viewpoint of the world? How does God's power change how you view Him? How does God's viewpoint on the creation of mankind change your viewpoint of each other?
Respond: Pause and thank God for His creation, His intentionality, and His grace. It really is a reason to celebrate and worship.
