There is no greater gift than God's gift of salvation. For reasons we'll never understand, by grace, God chooses His spiritual children. But what' so scandalous is that we by nature are enemies of God (Romans 5:10). Yet, God still chooses us to be His adopted sons and daughters.
Think about the person you like least. (Don't lie. There's someone you don't like.) Do you have that person in mind? Now, imagine they came over to your home and lit it on fire. When you pull up to your burning house, they are there laughing and pointing. You run up to them and they spit in your face. Then they hit your car with a sledgehammer and set it on fire too.
But by Grace, you say, "Wow. I'd love for you to come with me for dinner and I want to make you my heir. All I have is yours. I choose you."
That's what God does for us. We, in our natural state, are enemies of God and want to set His creation on fire. He says, "I choose you." That is love. That is grace. That is soul-saving and life-changing.
With a God like that, how could anyone say "no" to His gift?
Reflect:By God’s grace, he transforms enemies into His very children. What does that tell us about God? How should we respond to His gift?
Respond:What’s one action you will make to show the people around you that the love of God has changed you?
