Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" Was Pilate the first post-modern? Maybe. Maybe not. But his question is one that people used to ask. Today, the resounding position is "there is no truth."
But isn't that a truth claim? Yes, it is. There is no truth is a truth claim.
People cannot hide the reality of objective truth.
Jesus said in John 8:31-32, "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, c“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
God's Word is truth. It's the answer to life's greatest question, "What must I do to have peace with God?"
People may deny "the way" to God. They will play religion. They will create a buffet approach to religion. It will fail. They will be disappointed on earth and in eternity.
That's why Jesus said, "the truth will set you free." When we are free in Christ, we are free indeed!
Reflect: Read John 8:31-38. What does Jesus mean by disciples? Truth? Freedom? Slavery? Why does truth matter?
Respond: Think about the truth of God. Why does God's truth set us free? How can you display this freedom in Christ?
