One alternate explanation to the resurrection of Jesus is the claim that the disciples lied about seeing a risen Jesus.
As you saw in this video, that explanation falls flat. Liars make poor martyrs.
And think about Paul's words in Philippians 3:8-9, "Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith."
Paul considered his past to be trash. He had a good past. He had the right name. He had the right experience. He had the right future. But he gave it all up. He considered it trash. Why? He saw a risen Christ.
I'm convinced many of us would die for our faith. We have not seen a risen Christ, but we'd die for our faith. But will you live for your faith?
Paul was willing to not only die but live for his faith. Will you?
Reflect: Read
Philippians 3:3-11. Why does Paul recount his background? How does this challenge your view of what matters to God?
Respond: Christ changed how Paul thought and lived. How can Christ continue to shape how you think and live?
