Welcome to a weekly journey to combat our fear and embrace faith in God.

We are all facing trials of various kinds. Whether its turbulence in your retirement account, a scary health diagnosis, the spread of viruses, job loss, or some other scary situation, God knows we will have to choose fear or faith. God wants us to embrace faith and reject fear. But how? Subscribe below and we'll show you over the next 30 days.

Day 1 - The Peace of Jesus - Fear vs. Faith

Text in Context: Read John 14:15-31

Reflect: How are we to show love for God? Why do you think Jesus repeated this four times? How did Jesus set this example? What’s the difference between the peace that Jesus gives compared to the peace the world offers?

Respond: What’s your first response to trials and problems? What does this reveal about your trust? How can you show faith in Jesus’ promise?

Prayer: Father, thank you for promising to provide me peace. You know my circumstance. Please provide me peace. Help me to trust and obey. Amen.

Each week share your comments below. We'd love to interact with you.

Interesting the word I got for this is trust, fear seems to trying to creep in, and I thought I was over stuff, we owe a lot of money for our rent, and fear has been telling that its bad, but then I go back to the word of God, and say it is written, Philippians 4:19 My God shall supply my need according to his riches and glory, in Christ Jesus, then I start thanking God, and praising God for his faithfulness to his word, then as the scriptures says, I have peace that surpasses understanding which guards my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I am glad I am doing this study it will help me along the journey.

So glad I found this. Really looking forward to this study. Fear-vs faith or faith-vs fear it’s a spiritual battle of the will. During my anxiety over the fear that I had lost my faith in God I struggled. Now God is helping me overcome these anxious thoughts.

Let’s start with the fact that some of us like me are own worst enemies and tend to create worry about things that it’s irrational to really be that worried about. But more than that our lives can be challenging and uncertain on many levels especially these days. How important it is to draw nearer to God, who is always there for us, in prayer, being in the Word, worship and fellowship! For He is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, Amen!

Hi William. I just started these series. In like you are my own worst enemy. Seriously at the first sign of trouble..(regardless of how big/small, real/imagined) i worry and panic.

Then I have to put it into perspective. I've been really working hard on not letting my panic overcome me for too long.

I've been trying to stop, pause and assess the situation. Then I realize that God must have a plan for me..in try to refocus, but it's hard.

I do feel comfort, however I'm pretty confident by now that Jesus really does have my best interests at heart.. and I just need to show and trust.

I hope you enjoyed this journey or are continuing to do so. May peace be with you. 🙏

I often am like Peter who takes my off of Christ and I begin to sink. I make the choice to look at the situation instead of God. Oh how weak I can be. Thankfully, God never lets me sink far. Thanks for sharing, William!

Yep, me too! My son constantly reminds me to pray. He literally stops me in my panic and says, "We gotta pray!" He's got it right.
